Boeing is seeking a Configuration Design Engineer to join our team in Huntington Beach, CA.
Our team is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including associate, experienced and senior level engineers.
The Platform Systems and Concepts team studies new air vehicle concepts and aerospace technologies for wide range of platforms and missions. Boeing Research and Technology has experts from all aircraft design disciplines and configuration synthesis engineers that bring that information together to create the best concepts. There are many opportunities for the experienced engineer to work with top talent peers and continue their professional development, while defining the aircraft of tomorrow and beyond.
Successful candidate should have good working knowledge in the areas of: Aircraft design, Aircraft performance, Systems thinking, Model development.
Position Responsibilities: Responsibilities will vary based on job level and experience, but representative tasks could include:
Participates in planning and performing synthesis of conceptual/preliminary aerospace/aeronautical vehicles.
Supports vehicle configuration designs from customer requirements.
Performs trade studies for performance, structural adequacy, cost effectiveness and regulatory requirements.
Additional Position Responsibilities:
Conceptual design and analysis of air vehicles, including the application of new technologies or configurations
Creating 3-D models and engineering drawings
Working with a team of experts to perform multidisciplinary analysis and optimization
Performing aircraft level trade studies
Aircraft sizing to mission requirements, including model development
Researching new technologies and evaluating their impacts on the aviation system
Leads the synthesis of conceptual/preliminary aerospace/aeronautical vehicles.
Leads vehicle configuration designs from customer requirements.
Evaluates designs and performs trade studies for performance, structural adequacy, cost effectiveness, and regulatory requirements.
Works under general direction.
May train others.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance post-Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
1+ years of engineering experience
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
3+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Master’s degree or higher
Aerospace engineering experience
3D CAD experience
Typical Education/Experience:
Associate (Level 2):
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or m
