Position Summary
The Warehouse Operations Manager is responsible for leading a team of salaried and hourly employees within distribution center located at the Mission Bell Winery. This includes managing shipping, receiving, and inventory control functions at the site. In addition to these tasks, this role is expected to ensure that the site meets Safety, Quality, Productivity and Service targets. This role is also charged with ensuring the site meets state and federal requirements for handling and storage of wine and spirits within a bonded warehouse. The Warehouse Operations Manager is also accountable for leading strategic warehousing and distribution Initiatives that will optimize business processes within the supply chain. This includes delivering broad business and technical knowledge in resolving problems and defining new business opportunities that will improve service to our distributors and customers.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily Distribution operations with the support of Supervisors and Foremen to ensure safety, quality, and productivity targets are met. Duties may require flexibility with weekly schedule to work night shifts and weekends.
- Develop a thorough understanding of warehouse processes and practices, coupled with an understanding of how the functions interact with and impact other areas of the Company.
- Motivate personnel to achieve and surpass department goals for safety, quality, and productivity targets.
- Interact with vendors to explore new technology, purchase equipment and services and resolve long term equipment, training, and process issues.
- Ensure proper warehousing and inventory control procedures are communicated and followed.
- Ensure employees are trained in and maintain procedures and guidelines for ISO.
- Monitor and execute the given budget for the Warehouse department
- Identify, analyze and resolve issues affecting warehouse and employee performance.
- Promote a safe working environment by executing and supporting safety initiatives and related training.
- Ensure team develops a working proficiency with all applicable warehouse and company systems, SAP, JDE inventory management, production support, shipping, timekeeping, cycle-counting and safety and ISO procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations relating to packaging and shipping product. This includes meeting all TTB reporting requirements in a timely fashion.
- Communicate effectively, concisely, and constructively, both verbally and in writing. Must be timely and accurate with distribution of information.
- Participate (lead when needed) in meetings with team (i.e., Visibility Board, Workload Status, and Scheduling). Willing to provide and receive feedback, observations and suggestions regarding staffing and training.
- Ensure distribution/warehouse meet or exceeds desired targets.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with concentration in supply chain and/or 10 years of logistics/warehousing experience
- Proven leadership and team building skills.
- Ability to plan, organize and execute initiatives.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate with internal and external parties.
- Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry up to 50 pounds, sit for extended periods of time
Preferred Qualifications
- Advance supply chain degree in logistics/warehousing experience or equivalent
- Previous experience working in lean manufacturing and/or lean warehousing environment.
- Strong computer skills with Microsoft and SAP experience preferred.
- Experience utilizing warehouse management systems (WMS).
- Experience utilizing RF technology, RFID and/or bar coding.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
- May be exposed to loud noise
- Must be able to work indoors/outdoors, lift, and sit for long periods of time.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

- Physical Requirements: The employee frequently is required to sit, talk or listen and drive long distances. The employee is occasionally required to stand; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. Frequent walking, including going up and down stairs and ladders, and bending are required. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
