Experience with public speaking and providing mental health education or training Essential Duties/Responsibilities: • Provide short-term individual, couple or group counseling to a diverse student body using empirically based treatment methods and accepted standard of practice within one's professional discipline.
• Create, coordinate and present various relevant educational and training programs for students, staff and faculty, including University-wide programs and residential life staff training.
• Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives.
• Maintain a high quality of care coordination for clients, including adequate referrals for evaluation or treatment, communicating with involved treatment providers, supporting family members when appropriate, tracking students of concern, while maintaining appropriate and timely confidential client records in an electronic record system.
• Engage in regular weekly individual and group clinical supervision and consultation.
• This position reports directly to their assigned clinical supervisor.
• Responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of designated protected information and performing duties in compliance with applicable policies, procedures, legal mandates and code of ethics.
• Responsible for upholding and promoting the mission and core values of Ferns State University as well as the mission of the Division of Student Affairs and the Personal Counseling Center.
• Cultivates an environment of belonging that values, respects, supports, and celebrates individual similarities and differences, allowing students, faculty and staff to thrive authentically.
• Support, promote, and develop university student enrollment and retention initiatives.

FLSA: Non-Exempt Temporary/Continuing: Temporary Part-Time/Full-Time: Part-Time Union Group: N/A Term of Position: 9 Month At Will/Just Cause: At Will Summary of Position: Provide individual, couple, and group short-term mental health counseling, crisis intervention, and outreach, education and campus programs for Ferris State University (FSU) students as part of a required graduate program clinical internship. Interns will be provided with compensation to assist with the costs of their internship at $16 per hour for up to 600 hours. Position Type: Staff Required Education: Applicants must have completed a bachelor's degree or be on track to graduate with their bachelor's degree by the end of their school's spring 2026 semester. • Must be able to work in a team-oriented atmosphere as a partner within the department as well as the campus community.
• Must be comfortable with computer software applications, such as; Microsoft Office Suite, and navigating an electronic medical records system.
• Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Demonstrated successful experience working directly with people from diverse backgrounds, including cultural, educational, socioeconomic and life experiences.
