Job Summary
A Generation Project Manager is needed to support the Digital Instrumentation and Control Program effort at Surry Power Station by working in cross-functional teams to manage large capital digital instrumentation and controls projects through engineering, procurement, contract management, planning, construction, and closeout. The position will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
SLR digital projects perform major modifications, replacements, and upgrades to existing nuclear power plant structures, systems, and components with specific emphasis on modernization of the controls scheme for the entirety of the operating plants. The position specifically supports the project management team by managing specific portions of the project including technical, construction, quality, cost and schedule. Supports development and management of specific portions of project budget and schedule. Coordinate plant commissioning process including safety, development of system turnover packages, system walkdowns, stakeholder management, punch list management, coordination with operations, maintenance, and training, and system documentation. This role supports aspects of the digital instrumentation upgrades, including both the primary and secondary plant monitoring and control systems. Heavy interface with other groups, departments, and outside entities are an expectation of this position. Performance of a variety of other duties as requested or assigned are also to be expected.
Responsibilities Include:
• Leads, manages, and/or supports specific phases of major projects including business development support, site development, permitting support (air, water, state, local, etc.), scope development, major contract negotiations (equipment, engineering or EPC), engineering, procurement, and construction contracts, construction activities, commissioning and transition to commercial operation.
• Manages all phases and aspects of the digital instrumentation upgrades, including both the primary and secondary plant monitoring and control systems.
• Develops and manages overall project budget and schedule for assigned projects.
• Projects ranging in size from major complex projects, specifically for digital/instrumentation and controls at Dominion Energy's Surry Power Station.
• Heavy interface with other groups, departments, and outside entities are an expectation of this position. Performance of a variety of other duties as requested or assigned are also to be expected.
Reports to Supervisor of Surry Digital Nuclear Projects for the SLR Projects Group in Virginia.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
The knowledge, skills, abilities and experiences that are required for entry into this job include the following:
7-8+ years of industry experience in the field of construction, engineering, finance and/or management with a minimum of 3 years demonstrated experience in project management. Nuclear industry experience highly preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in project management, relevant technologies, and leadership in the assigned project areas.
Strong team building skills, demonstrated skill and ability in effectively leading teams to achieve project goals and milestones.
Effective negotiation skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, including interpersonal, facilitation, and presentation capabilities.
Ability to develop, manage and monitor project performance to ensure results meet project requirements and schedules.
Ability to coordinate the resolution of technical problems and implement change
