As a leader and senior individual contributor role in our Hardware Engineering group, you'll be operating on a global scale in a newly developed team within the Play Engineering organization in Product Innovation and Design at the LEGO Group in Boston!
Core Responsibilities:
Serve as accountable technical leader of global (North America, Europe, Asia) multi-functional engineering teams as we develop and integrate products/platforms involving numerous sub-systems (e.g. microelectronic, mechanical, firmware, other software) to deliver on outstanding end-to-end play experiences.
Influence by demonstrating excellence in multi-functional team leadership, engineering, teamwork, innovation, risk management/mitigation, and delivery.
Lead successful design and strategic development reviews that involve system-level decisions/trade-offs.
Work with both internal technical staff spanning multiple Play Engineering functions and strategic external partners to deliver integrated, manufacturable solutions at excellent quality and high volume to the market.
Ensure solutions delivered meet end-user needs, safety/regulatory/quality requirements, and all other agreed-to business requirements.

The Senior Engineer, Systems Engineering plays a crucial role on our Systems Engineering team. This group operates on a global scale within the Play Engineering organization in Product Innovation and Design at the LEGO Group. The role is based in Boston, where LEGO Play Engineering is expanding our global footprint to help advance groundbreaking innovations that will redefine the future of play for the builders of tomorrow.
Do you have what it takes?
A builder with passion for creatively using technology as a vehicle to deliver truly amazing play experiences to children around the world.
6+ years of experience in Systems/Project Engineering roles that involve multi-functional engineering leadership from idea stage to mass production on projects involving robotics/mechatronics, microelectronics, complex systems, or other similar domains.
Strong experience in modern high-volume combined hardware/software system development in relevant markets (e.g. consumer electronics, robotics, medical device, automotive, or similar).
Proven expertise in navigating system-level interdependencies and making thoughtful decisions spanning diverse engineering and other relevant product development domains.
Evidence of strong capabilities in creative technical problem solving in modern hardware/software systems, coupled with well-balanced people leadership skills.
Track record of strong written and verbal communications skills spanning both internal work and collaborations with in-region 3rd party companies.
New Location Update
This position will initially be based at our LEGO office at Boylston St, Back Bay, Boston before moving to a new central Boston office location by the end of 2026. Our hiring teams will discuss this with you during the interview stages.

Compensation
The salary for this position has a range of $109,000 - $163,000 with bonus eligibility, which is based on anticipated responsibilities, market benchmarks, and organizational constraints. The LEGO Group carefully considers a wide range of compensation factors, including but not limited to prior experience, skills, expertise, location, internal equity, and other considerations permitted by law. The comprehensive remuneration details, inclusive of benefits, will be communicated upon finalization of the employment offer.
