Varian is seeking an experienced Sr. Network Architect with a deep understanding of Software-Defined Access (SDA) technology to join our Siemens Healthineers IT infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in implementing, administering, maintaining and solution designing complex enterprise network deployments with a focus on modern SDN technologies.  


You are responsible for:

  • Spearheading the design and deployment of secure, scalable network solutions leveraging Cisco SDA and other SDN technologies.

  • Partnering with internal teams to fine-tune and optimize policy-based automation and network segmentation.

  • Driving strategic initiatives in network transformation, including SDA adoption, automation integration, and security architecture enhancements.

  • Proactively monitoring network traffic and performance to identify issues and implement improvements that enhance stability and reliability.

  • Ensuring all network implementations align with architectural standards, security frameworks, and compliance requirements.

  • Acting as a senior escalation point for operational teams, leveraging deep troubleshooting expertise to resolve critical incidents.

  • Delivering expert-level break/fix support for Priority 1 and major service disruptions as a network SME.

  • Communicating progress through regular reports, project updates, and detailed network health assessments.

  • Coaching and mentoring junior engineers and administrators to support their technical growth and career development.

  • Keeping current with emerging technologies and trends, with a strong focus on SD-WAN, SDA, SDN, and network automation

  

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science an or MS

  • Minimum of 8+ years in network engineering and solution designing, with a focus on enterprise-level networking solutions. 

  • Strong hands-on experience with Cisco SDA technology, including Cisco DNA Center, Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), Cisco Catalyst switches, and Cisco Wireless LAN controllers. 

  • Deep knowledge of Software-Defined Networking (SDN), network automation, and network security. 

  • Proficient in network protocols, including BGP, OSPF, LISP, MPLS, VXLAN, and EVPN. 

  • Experience with network segmentation, micro-segmentation, and policy-driven networks. 

  • Experience with Cisco SDA, Cisco Meraki, VMware NSX, or other SD-WAN and SDN technologies. 

  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) with a focus on enterprise networks or network design (preferably with a focus on SDA).  

  • Cisco DNA Center, SD-WAN, or SD-Access certification is a plus. 

  • Familiarity with cloud-based networking (e.g., AWS, Azure) and hybrid networking solutions and automation tools like Ansible, Python, or SaltStack for network management and orchestration. 

  • Knowledge of cloud-native networking and integration with hybrid cloud environments.

  • You have excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills. 

  • You have strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders on management level. 

  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously. 

  • You are able to identify risks, document them and communicate along developed mitigation measures.
