Works under supervision to perform wound care duties to patients in an inpatient setting.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required
- Education
Associate's Degree in Nursing
- Experience
1 year of RN experience and
Specialty areas may have increase experience requirements as dictated by unit or standard of care.
- Licenses and Certifications
(NLC) NURSING LICENSURE COMPACT-BNE Current Texas (or BNE Compact State) license required Upon Hire and
(BLS) BASIC LIFE SUPPORT certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) Upon Hire and
(CWON) CERT WOUND OSTOMY NURSE is required within 3 years of hire date
Preferred
- Licenses and Certifications
(CWOCN) Cert Wound Osotmy Cont RN Upon Hire or
(WCC) Wound Care Certified Upon Hire or
(CWS) CERTIFIED WOUND SPECIALIST Upon Hire or
(CWCN) CERTIFIED WOUND CARE NURSE Upon Hire
JOB DUTIES
- Performs and accurately documents physical, psychosocial, and emotional assessments for all assigned patients.
- Develops and implements an appropriate plan of care for the patient. Utilizes critical thinking skills in planning and prioritizing nursing care for the assigned patients.
- Completes accurate and timely documentation of the interventions. Confers with all members of the health care team in a collaborative fashion, sharing information and observations of the patient and/or patient's family in a manner that contributes to optimal patient care.
- Initiates or maintains actions to assure continuity of safe/effective care for patients between shifts, units and upon discharge.
- Evaluates implemented interventions and modifies care according to the evaluation. Documents interventions and modifications to the plan of care in an accurate and timely manner.
- Adheres to appropriate hospital and/or Department of Nursing policies, procedures, clinical pathways and the accepted standards of the Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nursing Board while delivering nursing care to patients.
- Provides appropriate and timely answers and/or education to patient's and/or patient's families. Completes
