About the role

Overview

The Leave Accommodations Manager is a subject matter expert responsible for overseeing all leave-of-absence and accommodation requests, including FMLA, ADA, pregnancy-related leave, and Paid Parental Leave. This individual works closely with employees, managers, benefits team members, legal counsel, and external vendors to ensure compliant, efficient, and empathetic administration of time away from work. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong knowledge of federal and state leave laws, outstanding case management, and a passion for helping employees navigate critical life events while maintaining consistency.

 

Responsibilities

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Administer all types of leaves including FMLA, ADA, PPL, PFL, STD, LTD, WC, and personal leaves of absence.
  • Review, approve, deny, and coordinate interactive processes for ADA accommodation requests in compliance with applicable laws.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employees on leave or requesting accommodation.
  • Partner with external vendors and brokers to ensure appropriate salary continuation and benefit coordination.
  • Monitor and track all leave cases and ensure timely, accurate documentation in accordance with legal and internal policy requirements.
  • Partner with People Business Partners, Legal, and the Benefits team to ensure alignment on leave decisions and complex accommodation cases.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of multi-state leave laws and company policies across multiple states.
  • Provide training and guidance to HR and business leaders on leave protocols and ADA compliance.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of leave-related policies, processes, and communication materials.
  • Audit leave cases to ensure accurate coding in HCM portal and ensure documentation is securely maintained.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to improve employee experience and reduce administrative burdens.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • Minimum 4 years of experience managing leave and accommodation cases
  • Experience working with third-party administrators and vendors for leave coordination
  • Knowledge of multi-state leave administration highly preferred Can also include specific trainings or certifications.

 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of FMLA, ADA, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, and other relevant state and federal regulations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations professionally
  • High attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) and familiarity with ADP and Dayforce
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with employees at all levels
  • Emotional intelligence and empathy in handling employee health-related concerns

Compensation Information

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for each position across the US. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This good faith pay range is provided in compliance with NYC law and the laws of other jurisdictions that may require a salary range in job postings. The salary for this position is $85,000 to $97,500.
