Who will you be working with?

 Leads supplier quality for North America in our Freight Equipment and Services segments, covering commodities and all product lines. Works proactively to prevent issues upstream in the supply chain and responds quickly to problems impacting our customers, plants, and field operations. Identifies and drives root cause analysis, developing action plans that lead to measurable improvements in reducing supplier defects.

How will you make a difference?

Leverages strong leadership, influencing skills, and process improvements both internally and with suppliers. Develops strategy and leads stakeholders in making critical decisions related to quality, cost, and speed, ensuring the business takes the correct actions to protect product reliability and Wabtec’s customer reputation. This role collaborates closely with all quality groups, sourcing, engineering, operations, and supply chain leadership.

Qualifications / Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience

• Minimum of 5 years of business experience

• Willingness and ability to travel to required customer, supplier, and company sites as needed

• Statistically literate and familiar with Six Sigma quality concepts and tools

• Experience in a Quality or Supplier Quality role

• Experience in engineering, manufacturing, and/or remanufacturing

• Experience with PPAP or similar part qualification processes

• Expectations are to travel up to 25% of the time.

What will your typical day look like?

• Sets and executes Supplier Quality strategy and initiatives

• High degree of problem-solving tools and methodologies

• Owns supplier results and drives performance improvements utilizing supplier scorecards

• Includes supplier qualifications, problem solving, corrective action plans, audits, performance monitoring, and assisting key suppliers towards industrial standards of excellence

• SQE will have high level of technical understanding of engineering drawings and ability to manage suppliers

• Drives and improves the Wabtec PPAP processes

• Own supplier audits, ensuring compliance, and driving improvement/corrective action plans where needed

• Have a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of purchasing and sourcing concepts and principles to drive supplier performance

• Involved in Supplier Pre-Selection

• Includes both Supplier Quality Assurance and Supplier Quality Development

• Will work with allocated suppliers to improve PPAP On Time Delivery and Quality statistics to meet target levels

• Communicates effectively across the direct organization, Sourcing, Manufacturing, and Engineering to eliminate roadblocks and communication barriers that may affect quality and delivery requirements

• Presents to senior leaders in specific purchasing space and on cross functional teams on how Quality contributes to overall strategy.

• Leads in the continuous development of the Supplier Quality function towards best practice

• Identify and deliver value-adding opportunities from quality and engineering perspectives

• Advises Functional managers or other Functions regarding approaches, processes, and procedures in the field.

• Has a role as a project leader of medium and large sized projects or is a major contributor to large projects.
