About the Role
 

As a Business Development Manager, you will play a vital role in the Business Development function, leaning on skills in partnership development and in publishing and financial strategy. The role has its specific focus on fostering growth in our society publishing program. This role calls for a highly experienced and qualified professional with a deep understanding of conceptual and practical aspects of business development. Additionally, you may find yourself leading projects, mentoring and coaching staff, and serving as a resource for colleagues. Your work will significantly impact the growth of our society partnership business, customer relations, operational efficiency, and service activities within your team and related teams.
 

Responsibilities
 

  • Establishing and nurturing relationships with institutions and societies to expand our society publishing program.
  • Fostering engagement within the publishing community and ensuring informed decision-making.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement strategies for growth and development.
  • Creating new publishing contracts and renewing existing ones for long-term sustainability.
  • Communicating the value of our partnerships to external stakeholders.
  • Utilizing feedback programs to encourage innovation and accountability in the organization.
  • Supporting and driving "Tiger Squads" to implement innovative ideas within our societies.
  • Identifying new business opportunities and lead efforts to secure them.
  • Enabling publishers in leading renewal negotiations and develop strategies for client retention.


Requirements
 

  • Demonstrate mastery of your field, ability to solve complex problems, and work independently.
  • Have an accredited education in a relevant field (Business, Strategy, Finance, Marketing, or related disciplines).
  • Have substantial experience in business development, with a proven track record of successful growth initiatives and contract negotiations.
  • Display proficiency in working with publishing communities and societies. Coupled with a profound understanding of industry best practices and internal/external business issues.
  • Have exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to approach challenges from a fresh perspective.
  • Display effective leadership, capability to train and guide junior staff, and exceptional interpersonal skills to build consensus and relationships.
  • Able to drive innovation, exercise judgement and analyze multiple sources of information.
  • Able to exercise judgment based on analyzing multiple sources of information.
  • Have excellent communication skills to convey the value of partnerships and initiatives to external stakeholders.
