Intern Support Technician - STR Division - Austin, TX

The Strategic Initiatives and Innovation Division (STR) operates at the nexus of technology, data, innovation, and strategy. It spearheads transformative projects for the department, collaborating with both internal and external transportation experts. We are looking for an intern to join our team and help support our Digital Roadway Data Program!  

Digital Roadway data describes a roadway and it can come from vehicles (V2X), infrastructure (I2X), crash data, pavement and bridge data, traffic counts, geospatial and geometric data, and a lot more! The program brings TxDOT stakeholders together to learn about the datasets that can help them solve real transportation issues and improve roadway safety for all.  

This is a great opportunity for a student interested in communications, digital governance, and program management.

Internships are scheduled to begin in May 2026 and will run through the summer. Positions may also be evaluated for continuation on a year-round basis, offering a valuable pathway to grow your career with TxDOT.
