About the role
PLC is seeking a self-motivated, detail-oriented and compassionate Human Resources Generalist to support day-to-day HR operations. Reporting directly to the CEO/Executive Director, this exempt position plays a vital role in maintaining employee records, assisting with recruitment and onboarding, supporting benefits administration, and ensuring compliance with HR policies and procedures. This position supervises one full-time HR Coordinator (non-exempt).
What you'll do
- Oversee and assist with the recruitment process, including posting jobs, screening applicants, and scheduling interviews
- Coordinate and support onboarding for new hires, including processing HR paperwork and system access
- Maintain and update personnel files and HRIS records
- Respond to routine HR inquiries and provide support to employees regarding HR policies and procedures
- Support benefits enrollment, changes, and communications
- Track employee leaves of absence and support compliance with applicable laws and policies
- Generate standard HR reports and assist with audits
- Support employee engagement and training initiatives
- Participate in the coordination of employee events and wellness activities
- Assist with policy implementation and help ensure compliance with labor laws
- Provide general administrative support on HR matters for the executive leadership team and the Board of Directors
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 2–5 years of human resources experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP or PHR) preferred
- Working knowledge of federal and California labor laws
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) required
- Experience with HRIS systems preferred
Salary & Benefits
- Salary range: $68,640 - $75,000 annually, depending on experience
- Full-time, exempt position
