Role Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Control System Software Engineer to join our Aalyria Space team. The ideal candidate for this role has experience with high speed, low latency control systems to be a subject matter expert on everything related to control systems in its next-generation land, sea, air & space optical communications terminals (Free Space Optical Communications). You will be responsible for developing autonomous functions to support Pointing, Acquisition & Tracking as well as other adaptive control capabilities related to critical system functions.

Key Responsibilities:
- Development of real-time Control System software that implements control, monitoring and telemetry:
- Development of C-lang, nested, very low latency, closed loop control systems for optical imaging and tracking systems
- Involved in full life-cycle of control system development from concept through integration, test, and release
- Run experimental activities in a lab (instrumentation, test, and data acquisition) in order to validate control system capability and robustness.
- Investigate improvements such as removing latencies and increasing uptime and reliability.
- Work closely with firmware engineers, system integrators, and product platform engineers to ensure algorithms meet the design goals and requirements
- In collaboration with the optical, mechanical & electrical design teams, contribute to technical requirements
- Collaborating with cross-functional and cross-regional teams.
Required Qualifications:
- Understanding of in-line Assembly
- 5+ years of C / C++ development
- Experience High-Speed Control Loops / Control Systems is a must
- Knowledge Digital Signal Processing & digital filters
- Development experience in a real-time operating system
- Development experience in MCU based systems
- Ability to investigate, diagnose and correct product malfunctions
- Proficient with Unix command line scripting and tools
- Proficient in version control (git)
- Measure and tune products to meet performance design criteria
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Solid understanding of electronic circuits and schematics
- Experience with Adaptive Optics systems
- Experience with Hardware Design, optical, Opto-Electronic Sensors
- Experience with Model-Based Control Design
- Python / Go
- Background in Applied Mathematics / Linear Systems
- Basic understanding of physics/optics
- Familiarity with lab tools such as digital-signal analyzers, power meters, oscilloscopes, etc.
