The Office of the Vice Provost for International Affairs (OVPIA) (https://global.cornell.edu) is comprised of internationally engaged units that work together under the framework of “Global Cornell” to foster high-impact international research and collaborations, teach and mentor the next generation of global citizens, and support international experiences and cultural exchange for all Cornellians. Our units include the Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies, the Office of Global Learning (Education Abroad & International Services), and the Office of the Vice Provost, which includes Global Operations and Communications teams.
The East Asia Program is one of the eight area and thematic programs within the Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies. The mission of the East Asia Program is to enhance Cornell's research and teaching in East Asian studies, including the languages of the region, and to help prepare students and faculty to contribute in the international sphere. The East Asia Program (EAP) supports the scholarship and teaching of more than 50 faculty members from 15 different departments across the university, and awards significant fellowships and grants for student research and study. The Program houses the Cornell East Asia Series publications (an imprint of Cornell University Press), its managing editor an EAP staff member and its editorial board consisting of 5-8 EAP faculty. Additionally, EAP organizes numerous events during the academic year. Each year these activities attract thousands of participants from a wide range of disciplines across campus, as well as from the Ithaca community and around the world.
The Opportunity
The Administrative Program Manager for the East Asia Program is responsible for the overall implementation and coordination of the East Asia Program’s administrative, academic, financial, and HR activities working with the Director of the East Asia Program, in consultation with the Executive Director of the Einaudi Center, and in compliance with applicable Einaudi Center and University policies.
The Administrative Program Manager will:
- Provide administrative structural support for the promotion and the study of East Asia at Cornell throughout the university and occasionally at national meetings.
- Serve as administrative liaison with numerous units across campus.
- Provide administrative support for the program’s public relations and development activities.
- Work with the Program director and relevant faculty committees in grant writing and organizing fellowship competitions.
- Assist faculty in coordinating administrative aspects of program events and community, regional, and national outreach.
- Supervise and manage three staff, and students.
- Oversee the update and production of program promotion literature.
- Oversee the design and maintenance of information technologies (website, databases, list serve).
The Administrative Program Manager must coordinate relationships and activities across all operational areas and understand and manage the cross-functional impact of programming and resource decisions.
