Job Description
NREL's Communications Office is seeking a strategic and collaborative professional to lead executive-level communications efforts. The selected candidate will serve as a trusted advisor and be responsible for executing various communications products for two Associate Lab Directors (ALDs):
- Materials, Chemical and Computational Science (MCCS) Associate Lab Director
- BioEnergy Science and Technology (BEST) Associate Lab Director.
Are you a flexible, highly organized, driven self-starter who can think strategically and successfully manage multiple projects and deadlines? Can you develop PowerPoint presentations and write talking points at a moment’s notice? Do you enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with others, and sharing information? Then this position may be for you.
This position requires the ability to manage key relationships with ease, and quickly learn and handle a variety of projects including writing and presenting communications plans. We are looking for a candidate with strong project management skills, good judgment, and the ability to take initiative and share new ideas. You should also demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and quality and be comfortable interacting directly with lab leadership and research staff while collaborating across NREL’s Communications Office.
Primary Job Functions
- Executive consulting and communications guidance
- Communications planning and strategy
- Complex project management
- Budget creation and oversight
- Produce presentations and PPT slides for the two ALDs and other NREL leaders
- Oversee and develop content for internal directorate communications such as newsletters, directorate Teams channel, All-Hands meetings, and email announcements to the directorate including some meeting coordination and follow-up actions
- Support content collection and reviews for annual directorate Performance Self-Assessment submission
- Respond to external communications requests from DOE and partners
- Respond to internal communications requests from communications colleagues, directorate leadership, and NREL leadership
- Collaborate with directorate Chiefs of Staff, senior research advisors, and other directorate leaders on various projects
- Write talking points for internal and external speaking op
