Sr. Design Operations Specialist
EsriAbout the role
Overview
We're a team with diverse expertise and our members are embedded in ArcGIS software development teams to design robust and intuitive user experiences. As the ArcGIS system expands and products share capabilities, our design team is building on our solid operational foundations and seeking greater consistency in design. This role would leverage your creative management knowledge to establish and document standards for design process and design quality. By strategically focusing on tools and the exchange of information, you will help our team increase efficiency of operations. Your holistic and centralized view of resources available would help designers implement their designs more quickly and leaders spend more time on strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Partnerships and Planning: Build relationships with UX/UI leaders, researchers, project managers, and developers to foster alignment and maintain accountability towards goals. Promote shared UX standards and help leadership scale the product design team to meet the needs of ArcGIS products.
- Skills Development and Evangelism: Enhance the team's design skills by identifying improvements to collective practices and suggesting training opportunities. Act as a design advocate by mentoring others, promoting best practices, and maintaining team websites that attract others to our design expertise.
- Team Coordination and Community Building: Bring the right people together for discussions and collaboration. Set agendas and ensure smooth orchestration of Design Collab sessions, breakout groups, and quarterly team meetings. Coordinate team participation at conferences including research lab activities, product island schedules, and organized meetups.
- Content and Resource Management: Collect feedback and optimize interactions to promote consistency across products and shared capabilities. Build shared Figma components or create design documentation to be used across teams. Craft communications to strengthen understanding and promote adoption of design standards.
- Operations and Efficiency: Stay current on, share, and implement scalable DesignOps practices. Manage access to essential tools like hardware (shared PCs), software tools (project management, ArcGIS organizations), and repositories. Ensure appropriate access to design tools and information so the design team can work without delays.
- Data and Impact Reporting: Curate information and data to highlight trends. Partner with UX Research and leadership to establish definitions of ROI and continue measurements. Share findings in monthly updates, end-of-year reporting, or Director's meetings.
