Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal / Senior Principal EMI Test Systems Engineer to join the Sentinel program in enhancing the US Space Force’s ICBM capabilities and ushering in a new era of Strategic Deterrence. This position will be filled in Roy, UT

What you’ll get to do:

  • This position is for an engineer experienced in EMI/EMC testing and compliance. The selected candidate will be expected to contribute to the Sentinel (GBSD) Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) team in the areas of EMI/EMC design and test.
  • Job duties may include:
  • Support hardware design engineering to ensure compliance with MIL-STD-464 and MIL-STD-461 EMI/EMC requirements.
  • Development of the Electromagnetic Interference and Compatibility (EMI/EMC) test plans and test procedures to meet the Data Item Descriptions and witness associated testing.
  • Contribute to the development of E3 CDRLs, which may include the E3 Integration and Analysis Report (E3IAR), E3 Verification Procedures (E3VP) and E3 Verification Reports (E3VR).
  • Assist in the design, development, and implementation of testing methods and equipment.
  • Test planning, execution, reporting, and integration support.
  • Prepare detailed test reports and support formal verification of the system.
  • Compile data and define changes required in test equipment, test procedures, or new test requirements.
  • Perform data analysis against requirements and interfaces for each software build or hardware component.
  • Interface with software developers and systems engineers in support of verification.
  • Product integration, regression, and verification testing including checkout in system test labs.

Basic Qualifications

  • Sr. Principal Engineer: Bachelor of Science degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 8 years of experience; 6 years with master’s degree; 4 years with PhD.
  • 5 years’ experience with, and a working knowledge of MIL-STD-464 and MIL-STD-461.
  • 5 years’ experience with EMI/EMC design, compliance, and system level integration (bonding, grounding, shielding, filtering, transient suppression).
  • 5 years’ experience with equipment, sub-system, and system level EMI/EMC test setup and execution (expertise in MIL-STD 461, automotive or commercial EMI/EMC testing).
  • Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application (<6 years), current and within scope, with an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Automated EMI test software and data collection – TILE!.
  • Proficient with requirements and MBSE management tools.
  • Proficient with DOORS, Cameo, and/or Rhapsody.
  • Prior weapon system experience (GBSD, Minuteman III or similar military or industry experience).

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
