The OR Technician Supervisor is a member of the Operating Room Leadership Team reporting directly to the OR Nurse Manager. This individual provides oversight and supervision to the OR Technicians to facilitate their responsibilities to ensure safe care to patients. Standard work includes maintaining cleanliness and order in the operating rooms, assisting in the movement of patients at the direction of a licensed provider, transporting patients, providing assistance in securing medical equipment/supplies, and stocking supplies. Additionally, this role is responsible for supporting the anesthesia providers as well as annual anesthesia waste gas testing, new anesthesia products, and competencies around anesthesia techniques, instruments, supplies and technology. Additionally, this person assists in orienting new staff and ensuring they complete their work in compliance with policies, guidelines and manufacturer's information for use (IFU)
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Observes and respects the personal privacy and confidentiality of information with regard to patients, physicians and co-workers.
- Adheres to code of conduct at all times and addresses patients in a courteous and respectful manner.
- Supports new attendant staff by acting as role model and mentor.
- Consistently complies with hospital policies and procedures for infection control and hazard communication standard including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment.

- Works with perioperative leadership to assign work: Ensures that planned work schedules remain compliant with unit needs.
- Monitors work performance to ensure compliance with guidelines and policies. Directs and supports employees in their daily work activities.
- Assists in plans for improving work methods and schedules. Works in collaboration with the Nurse Manager, Charge Nurse, and OR Educator to ensure the competency of the OR Clinical Attendants.
- Directs and conducts training programs. Attends meetings and training sessions as scheduled. In-services new equipment and methods.
- Oversees the annual mandatory education of staff which includes: skills validation and competency as well as completion of required modules.
- Resolves complaints as required, in collaboration and with guidance from the Nurse Manager.
- Works with perioperative leadership to ensure that task requests are processed based on acuity and timeliness in a standardized manner.
- Works with perioperative leadership, especially the materials management team to establish and maintain Par levels of linen, supplies and equipment.
- Assists in the supervisory function of stocking of linen, supplies and equipment. Participates in the evaluation of new products and supplies as needed.
- Participates in quality improvement/assurance work, EVS rounds, tank storage rounds and daily huddles. Participates in continuous process improvement projects.
- Performs day to day technician duties as necessary
- Cleans and maintains all anesthesia equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Collaborate with Materials Management to ensure adequate and appropriate anesthesia supplies are available at all times.
- Works collaboratively with Biomedical Engineering to arrange for preventive maintenance, scheduling of service contract and QC inspections/repairs, emergency repairs, and requests for loaner equipment as needed.
- Must be self-directed and work well independently and with others.

- Demonstrates proper use of equipment and supplies according to established procedures.
- Assures equipment is maintained in safe and proper working order.
- Adheres to department/hospital policies and procedures in performing duties and assignments.
- Works with the Biomedical Engineering Department to ensure compliance with JCAHO Standards. Checks and replaces gas tanks as needed.
- Cleans, restock, changes filters and reassembles anesthesia equipment, checking all equipment and alarms for proper functioning between all cases daily.
