This position serves as a Consolidated Disabled Veterans’ Outreach Program (DVOP) Specialist / Local Veterans’ Employment Representative (LVER) and is responsible for assisting with the development of the service delivery strategies for veterans and educating partner staff with current employment initiatives and programs for veterans. This position will also provide outreach and facilitate placements to meet the employment needs of eligible veterans and eligible spouses entitled to benefits, in accordance with priorities as determined by the Federal Department of Labor. This position confers with Management to assist in identifying improvement processes and develop solutions for the Jobs for Veterans State Grant (JVSG) program.
The Specialist performs duties as outlined in Title 38 of the United States Code (U.S.C.), 4104(b)(1)(2), as amended by Public Law 100-323. The incumbent will assure the local office is in compliance with Federal Regulations, standards of performance and contractual provisions of the grant agreement mandating special services for Veterans. The following duties are included in this code:
- Conducts outreach to employers and engages in advocacy efforts with hiring executives to increase employment opportunities for veterans.
- Creates, develops, and implements local policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the JVSG regulations. This position confers with personnel to ensure that it is in compliance with policy and procedures set by the State Veterans Program Coordinator.
- Develops and implements program management procedures to ensure the provision of services to eligible veterans.
- Maintains regular contact with community leaders, employers, labor unions, training programs, and veterans’ organizations to keep them advised of eligible veterans and spouses available for employment and training.
