Position Description:

The position of Part Time Temporary Research Scientist conduct research, collect and analyze data, prepare manuscripts for publication and results for grant applications, and assist in research-related tasks on specific projects.

This is a Grant Funded Position: Assignment Ends 12/31/2026
 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop experimental protocols, and coordinate and schedule research activities

  • Design and conduct experiments

  • Collect, organize and analyze data generated from the experimental study

  • Prepare written reports, documents and manuscripts for publication and grant applications

  • Monitor current research literature for relevant information

  • Recommend new ideas for ongoing lines of research

  • Participate in grant proposal preparation and development

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD, MD or DVM and more than 10 years of related experience are required.

  • Special consideration will be given to candidates who will work independently with enthusiasm, self-motivation, and ability to solve problems that may arise during experimental studies. Candidates who have been working on animal models and health effects of ambient particulate matter and engineered nanoparticles will be given special consideration.

  • Exhibit capacity to act promptly; demonstrate effort to accomplish assigned tasks and meet organizational needs; take independent action where appropriate, and utilize sound judgment.

  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills. Listen well and respond appropriately.

  • Demonstrate acceptance of team goals and work cooperatively with other lab personnel.

  • Adapt to new situations in a positive manner and respond appropriately to learning and applying new skills.

  • Adhere to attendance requirements of the job. Request time off in accordance with the university and department policies and procedures.  

Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
