About the role

The Technology Specialist III is a senior level engineer with expertise in multiple IT areas, who  identifies and initiates solutions to complex or systematic problems, analyzes business plans and strategy to define technology vision. This  may involve leading or directing others in problem resolution involving programming, interface and product design, platform development, infrastructure and interactions with multiple systems. 

  1. Utilizes an in-depth knowledge of technological alternatives and directions, business systems and requirements, conducts independent analyses and reviews of technical and business requirements. 
  2. Develops innovations with business partnerships, enhancing operations and/or providing a competitive advantage to the organization. Acts as the primary technical resource and consultant, in their area of expertise, to senior client and IT management and staff. 
  3. Provides feedback on programming, interface, or product design issues which could impact scheduling and allocation of resources.    
  4. Ensures technical designs comply with applicable architecture standards and designs are functionally and technically feasible.
  5. Validates technology ability to meet business, performance, integration, and scalability requirements for each project. 
  6. Establish, communicate, and enforces application design patterns, interface standards, and development guidelines. 
  7. Understands network security services (NSS) architectural products and standards to ensure solutions are compliant. Provides feedback into the overall Product Roadmap and NSS.
  8. Promotes and strongly communicates the architectural blueprints to mobilize the rest of the organization to build solutions that fit customer needs.
  9. Plays a critical role in the investigation of new technologies along with Enterprise Architecture and Solution Design and Consulting to provide development viability of architectural initiatives to meet medium to long term business needs. 
  10.  Adjusts product architecture as customers’ requirements, market conditions and technology evolve. 
  11. Establishes solutions architectural processes and standards to guide the rest of the development organization.
  12. Partner with program managers and development teams on oversight for all requirements to formulate appropriate architecture required to provide system functionality, deciding when to advocate and when to compromise to arrive at mutually acceptable solutions.
  13. Understands the long-term business objectives and proposes technology strategies to meet those objectives by introducing innovation through technology. 
  14. Works with the development team to translate software architecture into design. 
  15. Plays a leading role in the investigation of new technologies and architectural initiatives to meet medium to long term business needs.
  16. Performs related duties as assigned or requested.

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in a technical discipline; Masters degree preferred .

Experience:

We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer with 8-12 years of experience building products for web applications. We want someone with consumer experience, where real customers and external users have used the products you developed, and those products have then scaled up in terms of volume of transactions, interactions, features, etc. The candidate will have hands-on experience leading software engineering initiatives, designing and implementing system architecture, and coaching and mentoring a team of engineers. 

  • Fluent in a back-end language: Java or Node.js or Python
  • Fluent in a UI Stack: JavaScript, ReactJS, HTML, and CSS
  • Fluent in Database systems: Oracle, Postgres or MySQL 
  • Fluent in web and security tech: APIs, DNS, HTTPS, Logins, SSO (SAML, OAuth, or Open ID), Security practices, or MFA
  • Fluent in Unix/Linux based systems and scripting
  • Knowing any of following that we use also a plus:
    • Software Architecture and Design 
    • Integrations with external systems such Active Directory, Azure ID, EMR systems 
    • Google Analytics, DataDog, BugSnag
    • GitHub, CircleCI, CodeClimate, Asana
    • Knowledge of HIPAA, NIST, PCI, SOC, FERPA or other security standards

 

Compensation Statement

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for this role is $102,999.98 - $202,155.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
