About the Role
iCapital is looking to hire an Equity Reporting, Assistant Vice President to join the Corporate Reporting team within the Corporate Finance Department. The ideal candidate will oversee the rapidly growing area of equity compensation reporting which encompasses equity management, shareholder management, and stakeholder inquiries, training, and communication. This role will have monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting responsibilities, as well as exposure to various ad hoc projects, such as incorporating the results of mergers and acquisitions and equity activity.
Responsibilities
- Ownership of monthly reporting on the company’s table of capitalization and stock-based compensation calculation.
- Run reports using iCapital’s equity management software, Carta, and work with resulting data sets in Excel.
- Responsible for the creation of equity related journal entries pertaining to option exercises, equity issuance and stock-based compensation expense using NetSuite and Carta platforms.
- Assist with monthly and quarterly reporting pertaining to option exercises and taxable income calculation.
- Address internal and external shareholder inquiries and drafting stakeholder communications.
- Assist with employee training focused on stock options and equity by creating relevant materials in PowerPoint and other MS Office applications.
- Work cross-functionally with Human Resources, Legal, Payroll, Corporate Development teams on such projects as processing of new option grants, issuance of new equity externally, processing of non-qualified stock option exercises.
- Monthly domestic and international tax reporting responsibilities, including providing relevant option exercise and taxable income information to interested parties in various international locations, drafting communications to stakeholders, consolidating data for various tax filings, such as forms 3921 and 1099-B in the United States.
- Help develop the area of stock options and equity in international locations by ensuring proper accounting, tax withholding and compliance with local tax regulations and authorities.
- Provide help on various ad hoc projects pertaining to the area of equity, such as working with external stakeholder auditors to provide investment confirmations or assisting with equity calculations for the M&A transactions.
- Identify and remediate process gaps in equity-related procedures and policies and implement effective internal controls, improving internal processes.
- Provide supporting records and documentation for external audits.
- Branch into different areas of Corporate Reporting when needed (financial statements, corporate tax, etc.) as the role and candidate develops, opportunities surface, and department-level needs arise.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree; Business, accounting, or finance preferred
- Interest in pursuing CEP designation or other certifications preferred
- 5+ years of relevant work experience
- Experience working in a fast-paced, self-starter environment
- Familiar with equity-management software such as Carta, Shareworks, or GlobalShares preferred
- Understanding of a typical company capital structure
- Familiar with stock-based compensation accounting under ASC 718
- Familiar with 409a valuations
- Familiar with Oracle NetSuite and/or General Ledger systems (i.e., SAP, PeopleSoft, Axiom) preferred
- Knowledge of booking journal entries and the resulting impact to the financial statements preferred
- Have a desire to research and stay up to date with new accounting guidance and pronouncements
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). At a minimum, knowledge of simple Excel formulas, Lookups, etc.
- Able to multi-task and manage large sets of data; able to implement checks and balances with attention to detail even with minimal supervision
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and able to communicate professionally
