Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) is dedicated to protecting and promoting the health of Virginians. The VDH is made up of a statewide Central Office in Richmond and 35 local health districts.

The Mount Rogers Health District is seeking an Office Services Supervisor Senior to provide leadership and operational oversight for multiple physical office sites serving Wythe County, Bland County, and Smyth County. This role supervises a team of Office Services Specialists performing administrative, fiscal, and clerical functions essential to daily public health operations. Key responsibilities include determining workload priorities, scheduling and reviewing work, training staff, providing counseling, and conducting formal performance evaluations. The supervisor will also recommend and implement disciplinary actions when necessary, evaluate and improve office productivity, and recommend organizational or workflow changes to enhance efficiency across each office, shift, or service area. This position interprets and implements state and local policies, ensures compliance with program requirements, and collects and analyzes data to support decision-making.

This position may be based at the Wythe County Health Department, the Bland County Health Department, or the Smyth County Health Department. The selected candidate will oversee operations across all three locations and is expected to spend time in each office every week to maintain consistent administrative support, provide direct supervision to staff, and ensure aligned processes across sites.

Minimum Qualifications

• Considerable knowledge of supervisory principals/practices, financial guidelines and accounts receivable policies/procedures.
• Excellent customer service and communications skills (oral and written)
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to work and contribute within collaborative relationships, including the public

Additional Considerations

• Experience managing in a healthcare/medical setting
• Experience in patient confidentially (HIPAA)
• Comprehensive knowledge of and experience in general office practices/procedures and business math
