Job Summary
Plan and execute technical work for go to market/ Proactive or Analytical projects under the direction of technical leaders; contribute positively by making suggestions for improvements in methods or techniques that result in benefits to the department; generate technical information and suggestions that are used to make decisions and can be used in customer presentations to highlight IFF product advantages.Responsibilities/Description Support technical role as part of a team working on strategic or G2M projects, give input on results, findings, & suggest next steps Plan & manage work with guidance from senior technical staff Develop independence by taking on responsibilities in the ST&I department (e.g., organizing lab clean-up, organizing department meetings, etc.) Work in partnership with other multidisciplinary departments such as R&D, Sales, Perfumery & Marketing/CI Execute the relevant parts of the project within the given timelines Begin to apply project management skills on small individual projects Creation/Optimization Project Management Promotion Criteria Promotion Criteria Utilize experimental design principles to develop methods that support critical projects Participate in new concept generation with senor technical staff Apply new methodologies to prove concepts are working Implement ways to improve current processes or methodologies to reduce time or cost or increase performance Stability Evaluator Role(if required): Manage formal stability studies following established process & protocol; Provide timely documentation & conclusions of completed stability studies; Make suggestions for process improvements Utilize industry media sources to enhance knowledge of future trends such as new base formulations & fragrance industry related issues (e.g., Happi, Cosmetics & Toiletries) Attend a trade show &/or become a member of a trade association to stay abreast of industry trends Write up all laboratory notes in IFF knowledge management tools in a clear & concise way to be readily understood by all that have access & be able to show & encourage others to use the system Write presentations & reports to be able to share work with others & store in IFF knowledge management tools with the correct search fields added Communicate learnings (verbally & written) to internal project teams Write/develop protocols for new applications Understand how to apply all laboratory procedures, processes, & protocols to G2M or proactive projects (e.g., capsule making, evaluation set up, sample making, analytical measurements) Develop a basic understanding of the technical/innovation programs & how they contribute to the overall category/customer strategy Consult with supervisor on which ST&I disciplines to focus on for training & development Conduct patent searches With guidance from manager, find meaningful information on market products or competitive intelligence Support competitor IP analysis by carrying out assigned experiments & summarizing results Reconstruct the competitor experimentation or testing where needed Assist in writing sections of invention disclosure where involved in the experimentation or testing Conduct desk research to find possible partnerships for IFF Support collaborative work from third parties on developing methodology to achieve joint objectives where applicable Share or present results & findings with the third party Understand the main base components used in leading market benchmark products per relevant category & application Consult with sensory to determine best methodologies to use for testing Utilize knowledge of consumer unmet needs in the relevant categories & applications to shape fragrance solution development Be responsible for writing a Personal Development Plan that ensures the ability to meet the current job role requirements, but gives the required ability to achieve the next level when appropriate Develop a network of IFF staff that can help achieve the required capabilities Utilize internal & external training tools to enhance both soft skills & technical knowledge Connect with colleagues often; share knowledge & promote team work Requirements Required Experience: Minimum 4 - 5 years’ experience in the industrial food, pharmaceutical, chemical, cosmetic, consumer goods, &/or fragrance industry Knowledgeable in lab safety, relevant application, raw materials, & chemical processes Training/Certifications Essential: BS degree in Science & Technology, Chemistry or related discipline Preferred: MS degree in Science & Technology, Chemistry or related disciplineWe are a global leader in taste, scent, and nutrition, offering our customers a broader range of natural solutions and accelerating our growth strate
