Responsibilities
Under the direction of Supervisor/Charge/Circulating/Scrub RN/LVN assists in most aspects of the operative process. Exhibits detailed knowledge of surgical instruments and prescribed procedures to provide surgeons the appropriate sterile surgical instruments and supplies throughout the course of surgery. Responsible for scrubbing in all types of obstetrical related cases, turning over operating rooms between cases. Stocking rooms and carts and maintaining equipment in the operating rooms, post anesthesia recovery rooms, labor rooms, and OB Triage bays. The OB Tech also attends vaginal births under the direction of the Supervisor/Charge/Labor RN with supporting of the patient, instruments and supplies required for delivery and clean-up of patient and room following the procedure.
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:MINIMUM REQUIRED: High school diploma/GED. Six months OB/perinatal care or surgical scrub experience OR graduation from a recognized Surgical Technician program.
PREFERRED: Six months to one year of surgical scrub experience.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:MINIMUM REQUIRED: Current BLS certification.
