About the role

Description

The UM-Flint School of Nursing (Graduate Program) has a LEO Lecturer opening for the fall 2026 semester, teaching NUR 607 (Informatics). This is a three-credit online course (20% effort), with scheduled Zoom meetings, during which faculty offer support throughout the term.  This course may be co-taught with other faculty.

Course description: This course is an introduction to knowledge and skills related to health care information systems and patient care technology, needed for advanced practice professionals to be successful in today's health care environment and within their professional roles.

  • According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics' Occupational Outlook Handbook, the employment of RNs is projected to grow 5% from 2024 to 2034, which is faster than the average for all occupations.
  • The Bureau also projects that the employment of nurse practitioners, nurse anesthetists, and nurse midwives will grow 40% between 2024 and 2034, much faster than the average. 
The nursing profession is pivotal to advancing healthcare by addressing key issues like health equity, navigating an increasingly digitalized medical landscape, and adapting to the demands of an aging population.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Graduate Degree in Nursing;

Experience in information technology in healthcare;

Demonstrated informatics competencies such as data analysis, clinical outcomes, data exploration, or use of e-health resources;
Unencumbered RN License in the State of Michigan or eligible to apply
