About the role

Description

Mary McDowell Friends School (MMFS) invites applications for a full-time Upper School Educational Technology Integrator beginning August 2025.

Position Overview

MMFS strives to support students, faculty, and the educational community in the use of technology to aid in the learning process.  This goes well beyond facilitating mandated or recommended assistive technology - an Educational Technology Integrator works to match students and faculty with the best technologies to not just enable the learning process, but enrich it.  Whenever possible, the goal is to provide detailed and targeted instruction to assist someone learning the tools/process for creating their own content, rather than simply gathering needs, and creating the content for the student or teacher. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for education, working with High School teachers, and working with a team of IT professionals dedicated to the mission of educating LD Students.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

In order to facilitate daily work and project-based planning, the primary role is defined in two parts:

Students

  • Manage student technology issues as promptly as possible, as they arise.  If this involves coordination with IT due to software/hardware needs, communication and follow-through should be detailed and prompt.
  • Work with faculty to ensure that source texts (novels for English, textbooks for other departments) are as accessible as possible (through Audible.com, Learning Ally, or Kurzweil).  In the case where source documents are not accessible, work with assigning faculty to facilitate accessible versions.
  • Facilitate installation, support and training for students in a speech to text/text to speech needs through Read and Write for Google, as well as Google Apps STT engine.
  • Facilitate installation, support, and training for students to effectively utilize Google Apps for Education, particularly Google Docs and Google Classroom.
  • Facilitate assistive technology assessment and implementation.

Faculty

  • Push into classrooms in order to observe and support students and faculty technology use.
  • Facilitate installation, support, and training for faculty to effectively utilize Google Classroom.
  • Facilitate installation, support, and training for faculty to effectively utilize Engrade.
  • Facilitate and manage peripheral technology (interactive whiteboards, scanners, cameras, and projection appliances) which can be used in a classroom setting to create subject matter, or enrich the learning experience.
  • Facilitate installation, support, and training for faculty to effectively utilize content creation tools integrable with the interactive whiteboards in every classroom.  The goal is that every teacher can deliver a multisensory, accessible curriculum.
  • Help with general technology literacy, vet, and provide documentation and self-help resources.

Additionally, you will partner with another Integrator to meet community needs:

Community

  • Maintain documentation and resources on us.marymcdowell.net
  • Collect student work and create initiatives for content on the Lightpost, the online student publication.
  • Collaborate with IT and other division Ed-Tech coordinators on larger school-wide technology initiatives.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities to bring new technology and methods back to MMFS..

Diversity and Equity Commitments:

  • Understand and participate in all school-wide diversity and equity initiatives.
  • Examine administrative practice through the lens of race, identity, equity, and privilege.
  • Provide an equitable framework for leadership decisions.
  • Support a school culture that allows for social identities to feel welcome.
