Description
The University of Chicago’s Department of Medicine, Section of Geriatrics & Palliative Care, is seeking faculty at any rank to support the growth of both geriatrics and palliative medicine services. This is a highly clinical position that shares effort between the geriatrics and the palliative medicine programs. Appointees will practice in a variety of care locations, including outpatient clinics, inpatient geriatrics and/or palliative medicine consultation services, skilled nursing facilities, and may include home-based primary care and/or hospice visits. In addition, appointees will collaborate across specialties, including oncology, surgery, cardiology, and neurology, to deliver comprehensive symptom management and end-of-life care. For geriatrics, appointees will care for complex older patients, incorporating the 4 M’s (mobility, mentation, what matters, and medications) across all care settings. Other duties include the teaching and supervision of trainees and students, as well as research and scholarly activity. Compensation are dependent upon qualifications.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, 3) be Board Eligible or Board Certified in Geriatric Medicine and/or Palliative Medicine. We especially welcome applicants who are fellowship trained in both Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine.
