The Digital Manufacturing Systems team is seeking a highly motivated Principal Software Engineer to help imagine, invent, and implement technology used to manufacture the next generation of Ford vehicles. Minimum Qualifications

  • High attention to detail
  • Strongly empathetic with the ability to partner with broad variety of internal partner teams and internal clients
  • Extensive in-plant and vehicle diagnostics systems and software experience ranging from embedded software architecture within the ECUs, development toolchains for diagnostics systems development, data exchange formats such as ODX, and test definitions for on-board and off-board testing.
  • Experience in generating test definitions for manufacturing off the development toolchain in an effort to process automate the design-to-make workstream
  • Working knowledge or data model comprehension of product design and product lifecycle management (PLM) management systems from the perspective of design data digitization and democratization 
  • Extensive with electrical CAD and schematics definition, representation and digitization
  • Working level expertise in vehicle architecture (zonal, functional), networking (e.g., CAN, LIN, Ethernet) and protocols (OBD, OBD-2, IP) from the perspective of connectivity and diagnostics
  • Experience or strong interest in robotics and industrial controls systems with an eye towards digitizing and digitalizing electrical testing in the assembly process
  • Ability to think through factory/manufacturing implications of your solutions in order to build the right things, the right way, the first time.
