About the role
This position will serve as the Oneida County Public Market and Small Food Manufacturing Manager for Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oneida County and will work under the direction and supervision of the Ag Economic Development Issue Leader to assist in the planning of educational programs and activities. This position will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Public Market and Market Readiness Programming and if necessary, will work with appropriate committee(s) to help establish Plan of Work. This position will work with the agricultural community to enhance the economic vitality of agri-businesses in Oneida County and the surrounding region. This position will utilize established resources to support, manage and coordinate educational programming efforts provided to farmers and vendors regarding marketing of products that will increase access to local agricultural markets. This person will provide overall market management and outreach to agriculture producers, new food entrepreneurs, new/beginning farmers and the general public. As the Small Food Manufacturing Manager, you will act as the lead for the CCE Oneida and surrounding areas Knowledge Hub. The Knowledge Hub will provide workshops on bringing value-added food products to market. In addition, the manager will be responsible for providing small-scale testing of safety of food products using equipment available including a PH meter, refractometer, and vacuum gauge.• NYS Health Insurance Program (including FREE Dental Insurance)
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s Degree and 2 years transferable program/functional experience.
- Experience relevant to the role of the position.
- Valid NYS Driver’s License and the ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
- Ability to work flexible hours, which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.
- Proficiency or ability to learn and effectively use software including use of the internet and Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Excel).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Coursework in agriculture, agriculture business or agriculture economics.
- Training in Good Agriculture Practices (GAPs) curriculum.
- Understanding of Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) rules and regulations.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to work effectively with advisory boards, community, and community funding partners.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, initiate, coordinate and organize informal educational programs.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively through oral, written and visual means.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize computer technologies (i.e. computers, internet, social media) for outreach and communication purposes.
- Demonstrated ability to participate in professional team efforts.
- Demonstrated strong leadership skills, time management and motivational skills.
Position Details:
Expected Weekly Hours: 37.5 hours per week- Onsite Position.
This is a full time, benefits eligible, exempt position. Compensation paid at the rate of $62,353.20
Location: Oneida County CCE office in Oriskany, NY . No remote work available.

Administrative Responsibilities:
Direction – 10%
- Provide input to support the planning of educational programs to include but not limited to planning the delivery of established educational program goals and planning the structure of delivering educational programs via various methods.
- Provide input in anticipating or planning for program expenses.
- Provide program related information to supervisor for the budget development process and assist with allocating budget amounts.
