The Economist Group is seeking an experienced, dynamic and collaborative Regional People Partner for our Americas Region, based out of the New York office.  This individual will be responsible for overseeing site management, employee relations, benefits administration, talent acquisition, office culture, and aligning local People operations with the Global People Business Partners (PBP) based in our London headquarters. The Regional People Partner will be accountable for end-to-end People activities, including the onboarding and offboarding of colleagues. 

The ideal candidate will have solid experience in People operations, People generalist roles, and/or business partnering. 

Key Responsibilities 

Site Management: 

  • Serve as an on the ground People point of contact for colleagues, managers and leaders in the New York office, ensuring alignment with Company employment policies and procedures. 
  • Working in close collaboration with the People Operations team to ensure a positive employee experience. 
  • Partner with facilities and site leaders to ensure that the working environment is optimised to support colleague productivity. 

 Office Culture & Employee Engagement: 

  • Champion and cultivate a positive and inclusive office culture, driving colleague engagement and wellbeing initiatives. 
  • Organise colleague events and initiatives to enhance office morale and foster teamwork. 
  •  Action plan with site leaders in response to the annual Colleague feedback survey. 
  • Be a champion of our Affinity Networks in region 

Employee Relations: 

  • Act as a trusted advisor to colleagues and managers, supporting employee relations matters including conflict resolution, performance management and disciplinary issues. 
  • Working with the ER team in London to provide regional support and expertise on employee-related matters in accordance with local employment laws, company policies, and best practices. 

Employment life cycle: 

  • Onboarding of New Colleagues: work in partnership with the People Operations team to oversee the entire onboarding process for new colleagues in the New York office.
  • Offboarding of Colleagues: work in partnership with the People Operations team to support the offboarding process for colleagues exiting the organisation. Working with managers to ensure handovers are complete, conducting exit interviews, and ensuring compliance with legal and company policies. 
  1. Talent Acquisition: 
  • Work with the Talent Acquisition team on the recruitment process for the New York Office. Where required support with; job postings, screening, interviewing, and onboarding of new hires. 
  • Engage with new hires to talk through employment benefits provision associated with their hire to the business. 
  • Partner with hiring managers and talent acquisition to define the recruitment strategies for key roles and ensure these are aligned with the company's goals and values. 
  •  Promote diversity and inclusion in recruitment and hiring practices. 

 Alignment with Global PBP: 

  •  Collaborate closely with the Global PBP to ensure the New York office People strategies and programs align with global People objectives. 
  •  Provide local insights to the London team on talent trends, employee engagement, and any region-specific People challenges. 
  •  Contribute to global People initiatives and ensure effective implementation in the New York office. 

HR Compliance & Reporting: 

  • Ensure People practices comply with local employment requirements / legislation. 
  • Working with the People Insights team to track key site People metrics, including headcount, retention, diversity markers and colleague satisfaction. o Undertake regular data audits to ensure data accuracy is held within the
