USAC Field Technical Service Manager

 The Field Technical Service Manager will focus on strategic direction of the technical team, advance consultation / troubleshooting and special projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Recognized subject matter expert that creates commercial advantage by taking initiative to develop new applications, processes, or products.
• Keeping the customer at the core, works with Product Management, Research and Development, and other Business Development team members on the market direction, competition, and trends for nutritional and quality testing in food.
• Leader and mentor for the technical community.

Leadership

• Manage a group of 10-12 scientists based geographically providing technical support to Food Safety customers in the field.
• Support customers with method applications development, data interpretation, and product troubleshooting.
• Participate in activities of trade organizations and scientific associations.
• Coordinate customer technical support and training activities with Sales & Marketing staff.
• Contribute ideas for product improvement and new applications.
• Approximately 25% travel (average). Could be higher during certain periods.

Education and Experience

• Minimum bachelor’s degree in physical science, microbiology, chemistry, or related fields.  Advanced degree preferred.

• Minimum 5 years work experience with diagnostics - (rapid methods and traditional).
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a technical management role.
• Experience in presenting scientific results to diverse audiences.
• Understanding of diagnostics test development preferred.
• Knowledge of food science preferred.
• Experience in a Technical Service role preferred.
