Endoscopy Center Transporter

Description

Definition of Position:

Responsible for transporting patients to and from procedure rooms by stretcher, along with transporting patients to their vehicles by wheelchair upon discharge.  Other duties include but not limited to; moving supplies to and from areas of the Endoscopy Center, assist in inventory of stock and linen,  and other general duties as assigned.  Builds positive relationships based on respect for others and demonstrates a helpful attitude. Maintains effective communication with both internal and external customers. Assumes responsibility and accountability for time management. Seeks educational opportunities for own professional growth and development. Attends staff meetings and in-service opportunities as appropriate.

Direct Supervisor: Endoscopy Nurse Supervisor or designee

Working Conditions:

1. Exposure to bloodborne pathogens requiring the use of universal precautions and/or personal protective equipment.

2. Knowledgeable of potential exposure to hazardous materials (i.e., patient body fluids and disinfectant chemicals)

3. Position requires full range of motion, frequent standing, walking and sitting for extended periods of time.

4. Must be able to help lift, turn, roll, push, and pull equipment/patients for proper positioning during procedures and transportation from one area to the other as necessary.

5. Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.

6. Requires visual and hearing acuity.

Qualifications: 

• High school graduate
• Able to read, write and communicate effectively 
• Able to maintain and comply with patient confidentiality 
• Able to prioritize and maintain effective time management skills
• Candidate should be able to work in a team environment with multiple disciplinaries
