Description

The Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) Senior Associate Director, Programs & Engagement (SADPE) will report to the CFAR Administrator as part of the administrative team. The ADPE may supervise graduate students and/or support staff. The Sr. Associate Director, Programs and Engagement works collaboratively with the administrative staff. All CFAR staff report to the CFAR Co-Directors.

 

Responsibilities include:Adelante Program Implementation and Management

• Develop and oversee the biennial application process, including advertising, soliciting concept proposals, organizing selection process and criteria for full applications, guiding potential applicants regarding program requirements, leading the technical review of applications, establishing and managing a study section to review applications, coordinating application scoring and funding recommendations.
• Manage the disposition of study section outcomes.
• Lead programmatic communication with Scholars and Adelante Teams. Cultivate an “Adelante Community,” particularly among Scholars but throughout the Cohort teams as well, to ensure that Scholars are kept apprised of available resources and opportunities. Shares relevant scholarly publications, webinars, and other resources and events of interest to the Scholars. Answer questions and provide programmatic guidance.
• May require interpretation of program guidelines.
• Create the content management structure and aesthetic design of the CFAR Adelante website and other program collateral.
• Guide the Adelante Program Coordinator to maintain content currency/accuracy and to draft website and collateral content for SADPE review/editing.
• Work with Program Co-Directors to lead the standardization of content for required Adelante Program workshops ensuring continuity in training and development for each Cohort. Develop themes/content for ½ day training sessions for Scholars and Collaborating Partners at each workshop.
• Assist with workshop design and content for professional development activities, including quarterly webinars.
• Guide the Coordinator in the management of all regulatory documentation for each Adelante project, including working with the IRB to establish reliance agreements when necessary.
• Review annual reports and outcomes collected by the coordinator for reporting to the NIH through the CFAR annual reporting process.
• Guide strategic planning initiatives for the program to ensure continual program evolution and growth to meet the needs of the Adelante Teams.

Strategic Planning Activities

• Work with the CFAR Administrator to support strategic planning activities throughout the year, including content development for meetings of the CFAR Core/SWG Leadership (bi-annual), Executive Advisory Council (annual), and External Scientific Advisory Council (annual).
• Maintain CFAR administrative success metrics and track achievements and progress toward achieving metrics. Helps ensure that CFAR activities are aligned with goals and success metrics.
• Support data analysis and core user evaluation/feedback to support strategic planning processes leading to program changes/enhancements.
• Draft content and provide editorial support for the CFAR competitive renewal application (every four years), including graphic design and development for images, tables, and charts, included in the application.

Engagement (Community & Researcher) Activities

• Facilitate the growth and enhancement of all activities of the CFAR Community Liaison Council (CLC), including: the Annual Barbara Vick Impact Awards ceremony; annual community-focused science seminar; CLC and researcher dialogues on proposed research; coordinate compensation strategies for the CLC; facilitate an annual CLC retreat; and work with members to develop and sustain onboarding and recruitment processes.
• Develop and implement processes for supporting a bi-directional relationship between CFAR researchers and the Community. This may be through the dissemination of research findings, workshops, and programs to educate investigators on best practice.
• Oversee the production and printing, including biennial updates to, the Key Contacts HIV resource guide.
• Monitor and evaluate existing CFAR to ensure community impact is considered for all activities and programs.
