Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Assistant Traffic Engineer to be based in Orange, CA.

Position Responsibilities

• Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer
• Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures
• Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests
• Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered
• Identifies discrepancies in results
• Provides guidance to entry level engineers
• Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

• BA/BS + 2 years of relevant experience and exposure to Caltrans work and projects or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
• EIT Certification

Preferred Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering
• EIT Certification
• 8+ years of Traffic Design experience
• 6+ years of Caltrans experience
• Design Experience with Traffic Signals, Ramp Metering, ITS elements, Highway Lighting and Signing and Striping
• Design Experience with Stage Construction, Traffic Handling plans, and TMP reports
• Preferred design experience with BRT, LRT, and Rail Crossings
• Experience with Traffic Analysis
• Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office programs and other relevant software programs (Word, Excel, and  Outlook)
• Must be highly self-motivated with the ability to successfully multi-task, perform detail-oriented work, work independently, and demonstrate effective time management skills
• Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures
• Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving design calculations, analysis, planning, and writing technical reports
• CA PE or TE is highly preferred

Additional Information

• Offered rate of compensation (California locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $129,000/yr.
