Sr. Innovation Project Manager

The Opportunity:

Avantor is looking for a dedicated Sr. Innovation Project Manager to be responsible for the cross-functional planning and execution of new technology platforms and/or product line extensions from concept to launch within LSP. He/she will align the organization around NPI project execution and deliverables, outline innovation processes, manage Stage Gate process and schedule and own the innovation pipeline and bowler reporting across all LSP businesses. A successful candidate will be expected to engage directly with multiple functions - commercial, technical, and operational activities -  as needed to drive their programs forward. This role will report into the Director, Manufacturing Strategy & Technical Services in LSP.  

The LSP business provides a broad range of chemicals, consumables, equipment, and other products primarily into Life Sciences, but expanding into other industries.

This role will be a full-time virtual/remote position with travel up to 25% to Bridgewater, NJ and Radnor, PA offices.

What we’re looking for: 

• Education:
• College degree in scientific discipline such as chemistry, biological sciences, chemical engineering or bioengineering is required. 
• Experience:
• 3-5 years of applicable experience in project management. 
• Hands on experimentation related to new product development and project management are preferred. 
• Six Sigma Black belt certification and Project Management designation preferred.
• Additional Qualifications: 
• Diversity of experience.  Position will be key interface between multiple departments including R&D, manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, marketing, quality, finance, and legal. 
• Excellent communication and facilitation skills to build relationships and foster trust at all organizational levels. 
• Proficient in the methods, techniques and tools for planning, resourcing and monitoring of project activities including advance use and knowledge of MS Office. 
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize workload. 
• Ability to interact with all levels of the organization and cooperate successfully with staff from different countries and thus from different cultures. 
• Ability to teach and transfer skills to team leaders, team members, and general audiences.

How you will thrive and create an impact: 

• Manage all aspects of new product introductions through each phase of our stage-gate process creating required processes based on lean methodology. 
• Track progress of project execution and escalate process bottlenecks, anticipated delays, and other project completion risks. 
• Act as key interface between functions involved in the project. 
• Support business case development and Stage Gate preparation. 
• Drive and monitor key activities within each business / functional area.  
• Lead capital requests as needed for innovation projects.  
• Prepare and coordinate innovation project communications and report outs for key internal stakeholders, customers, and suppliers as appropriate. 
• Organize program management and update meetings as needed.
• Develop project specific KPI and milestones. 
• Support continuous improvement of new product introduction process.
• Ensure that projects are sustainably transitioned to appropriate business and operations owners.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of existing work processes to drive project execution efficiency. 
• Coordinate and manage execution of activities at external partners to drive NPI project.
• Develop and update standard work for managing NPI project execution activities including external partners.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
