Inviting applications for the role of Principal Consultant, AWS Cloud Ops SME
In this role, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the health, performance, and scalability of our AWS environments, ensuring that they meet the demands of the business. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in AWS cloud infrastructure and operations, with a strong focus on managing, optimizing, and securing cloud environments.
Responsibilities
• Oversee and manage AWS cloud environments, ensuring their availability, performance, and security.
• Implement and manage cloud infrastructure, including VPCs, EC2 instances, RDS databases, S3 storage, IAM roles, and more.
• Monitor and optimize AWS resources to ensure cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
• Perform regular health checks, patching, and updates to maintain the integrity of cloud systems.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, and Ansible.
• Automate cloud operations tasks, such as provisioning, scaling, and monitoring, to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines to automate the deployment of cloud infrastructure and applications.
• Ensure that AWS environments are secure and compliant with organizational policies and industry regulations.
• Implement and manage security controls, including AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM), Security Groups, Network ACLs, and AWS Key Management Service (KMS).
• Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and risk management activities.
• Respond to security incidents and implement corrective measures to mitigate risks.
• Implement monitoring and logging solutions using AWS CloudWatch, AWS CloudTrail, and third-party tools to track the performance and health of cloud infrastructure.
• Manage incident response processes, including troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of cloud-related issues.
• Develop and maintain disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity plans for AWS environments.
• Monitor and optimize cloud costs, identifying opportunities for savings and efficiency improvements.
• Use AWS Cost Explorer, Trusted Advisor, and other tools to manage and report on cloud spending.
• Implement tagging strategies and cost allocation methods to track and manage cloud expenses.
• Work closely with development, DevOps, and security teams to support cloud infrastructure needs and ensure seamless integration.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members on AWS best practices and cloud operations.
• Support cloud migrations, upgrades, and new project deployments.
• Create and maintain detailed documentation of AWS cloud infrastructure, processes, and procedures.
• Conduct training sessions and workshops for IT staff on AWS tools, services, and best practices.
• Stay updated on the latest AWS services, features, and industry trends, and share knowledge with the team.
Qualifications we seek in you!
Minimum Qualifications / Skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant professional training are a plus.
• Good experience in system administration, and in a cloud operations & DevOps.
• Proficiency in AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, Lambda, etc.) and Azure services (VMs, Azure Storage, Azure SQL Database, Azure Functions, etc.).
• Proven track record of managing and optimizing large-scale AWS environments.
• Experience with automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like CloudFormation, Terraform, or Ansible.
• Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
• Strong scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar languages.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kuber
