Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Structural Engineering Discipline Lead for its Transportation business line, to be based out of Chelmsford, MA. The ideal candidate will act as a lead for pursuits and projects using alternative delivery methods such as Progressive Design-Build, Design-Build, Construction Manager/General Contractor (“CM/GC”), or methods with early contractor involvement.

The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Coordinate structural engineering technical aspects of pursuits and projects with other disciplines and in support of other project/ design managers.
  • Interface with contractor clients through progression of the design deliverables.
  • Ensure the structural design is completed in accordance with the contract guidelines and design documents.
  • Assist in establishing structural scope, work plan and work schedules.
  • Comply with company’s safety awareness program and policies.
  • Support groups of engineers, designers and/or specialists towards development of structural design documents and contract deliverables.
  • Assure conformance with contractual obligations by ensuring that design documents are reviewed and approved prior to release to the client.
  • Train, mentor and develop staff and support career growth opportunities for staff.
  • Support marketing coordination and proposal preparation. Participate in proposal interviews.
  • Ensure that QA/QC procedures are being implemented and ensure the technical quality of deliverables. Lead responses to client’s comments on structural design elements of the deliverables.
  • Anticipate potential budget and schedule impacts and initiate plans for alternative actions.
  • Incorporate innovation in design and delivery.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering or similar field + 8 years of relevant design experience in bridge engineering, design and analysis or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license and be willing to obtain reciprocity in the jurisdiction of the projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with alternative delivery methods or projects with early contractor involvement.
  • Recent Design-Build experience serving as Project Manager.
