0.8 FTE (64 hours per two‑week pay period)
Two 10‑hour shifts per week on the Mobile Lung Cancer Screening Truck
One 12‑hour shift per week supporting clinic operations
Clinic shift may occasionally be split into two 6‑hour days depending on program needs
Occasional weekends
This role supports the Lung Cancer Screening / Early Lung Cancer Detection Program
Overnight travel expected beginning in late 2026 and continuing into 2027
Workday begins at Abbott Northwestern Hospital for stocking and preparation of the mobile unit
Team travels to scheduled destinations to provide lung cancer screening services
May assist the Driver/Provider Coordinator with setup and takedown of the mobile clinic
Job Description:
Performs diagnostic radiology imaging across multiple modalities, with primary responsibility for Low Dose Computed Tomography (LDCT) lung cancer screening on a mobile medical unit. Travels to locations throughout Minnesota and Western Wisconsin, with some overnight travel required. Provides a welcoming, timely, and high-quality patient experience through patient check in, imaging, education, and responses to questions and concerns. When not assigned to the mobile unit, performs CT and/or X ray examinations at an Allina Health hospital or clinic. Additional responsibilities include equipment quality control testing and inventory of supplies. As part of the mobile team, this position requires a high level of autonomy & effective communication, as well as a commitment to delivering the same high standard of safety and care in both mobile and traditional hospital or clinic settings.
Principle Responsibilities
- Clinical and Operational Support
- Ensures seamless imaging operations by effectively utilizing the Enterprise Medical Imaging/Picture Archiving and Communication System, supporting accurate and timely diagnostic workflows.
- Maintains uninterrupted clinical care through proactive inventory management of medical and radiological supplies.
- Promotes team efficiency and problem resolution by identifying issues early, communicating effectively with supervisors and colleagues, and contributing actionable solutions.
- Safeguards patient safety and compliance by maintaining precise and up-to-date patient records and documentation, supporting quality care and regulatory standards.
- Optimizes patient experience and care coordination by collaborating with the lung cancer screening team to ensure smooth patient flow and timely follow-up.
- Fosters a positive care environment by consistently demonstrating professionalism and respect in interactions with patients, coworkers, and external contacts.
- Ensures regulatory readiness and compliance by accurately maintaining Department of Health records related to Ionizing Radiation, meeting inspection standards at all times.
- Completes CT & X-ray exams in compliance with provider orders and department guidelines
- Delivers high-quality diagnostic imaging by performing CT and X-ray examinations with precision and adhering to physician orders, regulatory standards, and departmental protocols.
- Ensures patient safety and identity accuracy through verification processes, and compliance with screening and safety procedures, including glucose monitor precautions.
- Supports accurate clinical interpretation by documenting all relevant procedural details and gathering essential information for radiologist review.
- Maintains a safe and comfortable patient experience by monitoring patients throughout the exam, responding promptly to needs, and positioning them correctly for optimal image quality.
