General Summary
Manages the daily operations of the pharmacy department.
Essential Functions:
- Ensures delivery of quality pharmacy services for all patients.
- Ensures that the pharmacy is stocked with essential drugs and pharmaceuticals, and supervises all related purchasing and receiving duties.
- Develops and maintains departmental technology.
- Coordinates regular inspections of all medication centers.
- Serves as RASMAS Pharmacy Coordinator for product recall system.
- Develops the pharmacy budget and monitors the financial performance.
Common Expectations:
- Recommends staffing levels, selects and assigns staff, evaluates performance, evaluates/tests competencies (as applicable), provides orientation, training and continuing education of staff, and initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions.
- Coordinates and integrates services within the department/service line/entity, with other departments/service lines/entities, and with the System's primary functions. Participates in the selection of outside services (if needed).
- Continuously assesses and improves the department/service line/entity/System's performance. Maintains appropriate quality control/assessment programs (if applicable).
- Assists with completing monthly statistics and financial documentation.
- Assists in departmental planning.
- Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.
- Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
- Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
- Project management to achieve goals and target date.
- Problem solving using Lean and A3 process.
- Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
- Acts as a staff pharmacist when necessary, including dispensing medications.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the assigned patient population. Assesses and interprets patient age specific data and provides appropriate, age specific treatment. Provides direct patient care to assigned patient age group(s).
- Prepares and maintains written documentation as required by the profession and the department.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
- Bachelors Degree Pharmacy Bachelor's Degree Required
- Doctorate Pharm.D. Preferred
Work Experience:
- 3 years Relevant experience. Required and
- Supervisory experience. Required
Licenses:
- Licensed Registered Pharmacist Upon Hire Required
Courses and Training:
- Completion of 5 or 6 year program from accredited school of pharmacy. Upon Hire Required
