The Factor Health Lab at Dell Medical School is seeking an Undergraduate Research Associate to support our research activities. Our lab focuses on innovative approaches to improve health outcomes for vulnerable populations by collaborating with community organizations, healthcare payers, and investors.

Purpose

Contributing under supervision to Factor Health’s ongoing research programs. This position will primarily contribute to the Meals for Me: Managing Diabetes at Home clinical trial.

Responsibilities

• Assist with in-person patient data collection, including biomedical measurements consisting of a finger stick (HbA1c) and blood pressure.
• Outreach to patients to explain the research and gauge their interest in participating.
• Schedule and obtain written consent from patients interested in participating in study.
• Attend weekly research and team meetings.
• Become a proficient user of the UT Research software, REDCap. Enter and clean data collected, maintain documentation in REDCap and Box spreadsheets.

Required Qualifications

• Undergraduate student at UT
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Ability to show up to measurement days on time and be flexible
• Ability to conduct research measurements in-person
• Reliable transportation to get to and from measurement clinic sites
• Fluency in the English language with strong communication skills
• Interest in public health, healthcare, social science, or research

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

• Fluency in Spanish
• Complete CITI Training
• Coursework in health education, public health, research methodology, or social science
• Experience in data collection and analysis

Salary Range

• $20.00 Hourly

Working Conditions

•  Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation

• Occasional weekend, overtime and evening work to meet deadlines

•  Field work as necessary

• Onsite required at multiple clinic locations including Lone Star Circle of Care at Ben White (1221 W Ben White Blvd Suite B100 & B200, Austin, TX 78704) and CommUnity Care SEHWC (2901 Montopolis Dr, Austin, TX 78741)
