Job Description Summary

MUSC Rutledge Tower Outpatient Neurology Clinic provides care for a variety of Neurological Disorders. Some examples include Epilepsy, Memory Disorders, Movement Disorders, Neuromuscular and Stroke. The clinical staff assist with triaging and preparing patients for their appointments, assisting with various procedures to include skin biopsies and Botox injections. The clinical staff helps coordinate patient care and treatment plans through telephone calls and messages. Our team works closely together to ensure our patient’s healthcare needs are met, while encouraging our staff to work to their highest potential in every aspect of patient care.

Job Description

CMA I Minimum Training and Education: High school diploma or equivalent.  Completion of an accredited medical assisting program with one year of patient care experience preferred.  Basic computer skills required.  Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.  Annual competencies are required to be maintained.  Possess ability to understand and implement a variety of detailed instructions in the execution of therapeutic procedures and ability to make accurate physical observation of patients.   Failure to abide by MUHA policies are subject to disciplinary action, including termination. Employee must possess considerable knowledge of basic medical terminology and human anatomy; ability to understand and implement a variety of detailed instructions in the execution of complex therapeutic procedures; and ability to make accurate physical observation of patients.  Must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

LPN II Minimum Training and Education: Graduation from a recognized Licensed Practical Nursing program and licensed as an LPN within the state of South Carolina or a compact state. One year of LPN experience preferred. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

CMA II Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations:  Must be certified through the American Medical Technologist (AMT) or American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or National Health career Association (NHA) or MedCA as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA),  Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP). Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

LPN Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations: Licensed as an LPN within the state of South Carolina or a compact state.
