What We Are Looking For:

 

The Volvo Car Assembly Shop is seeking a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) Area Maintenance Technician to support our assembly manufacturing operations at our Charleston/Ridgeville South Carolina Plant  The Maintenance Area Technician will execute the technical maintenance functions in order to optimize the availability and cost control of the production assets, according to the VCMS principle of Value Driven Maintenance. From the maintenance technical perspective, providing feedback towards the object or/and area networks. Analysis of repetitive failures or equipment loss causes.
 

What you'll do

The Assembly PLC Area Maintenance Technician will work with the Assembly Maintenance Engineer to fulfill continuous improvement and optimization tasks.  The Assembly Area Technician works as a specialist in their assigned area of competence.  The Assembly Area Technician will be the first escalation from the Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician in their Area of Competence.

 

Principal Responsibilities:

 

  • Active co-operation with colleagues, executers, and workgroups. Participates in the object and/or area network.
  • Provide technical guidance towards Multi-Craft Maintenance Technicians
  • Dedicated, systematic and planned work, with the required flexibility to cope with sudden needs.
  • Assist the Assembly Maintenance Engineer in evaluating and updating the maintenance program (For example, PMs and PM Schedule).
  • Assist the Assembly Maintenance Engineer in RCA of extended downtime events.  Help implement Permanent Corrective Actions
  • Use prior experience to give feedback on incoming equipment to the Reliability & Maintainability Engineer
  • Assist the Engineers and Planner with creating critical spare parts lists and PMs for new equipment
  • Create improvement proposals and execute tasks resulting from improvement proposals.

What you'll bring

Qualifications:

 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. 
  • Bachelor’s or associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related field are a plus.
  • Technical certifications in PLC programming, industrial automation, or Siemens systems are a plus.
  • Proven experience and technical knowledge in Manufacturing Maintenance environment, preferably in the automotive industry.
  • At least 2 years’ experience with Siemens TIA Portal for PLC, HMI, and SCADA programming
  • Experience in configuring industrial communication networks (Profinet and Profibus)
  • Ability to configuring motion control and drives. (Siemens and Sew)
  • Basic hand/power tool familiarity
  • The ability to read and interpret manufacturing specifications or work instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Availability to work any shift (weekends, holidays and overtime).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job such as lifting and moving up to 50lbs., standing for extended periods, bending, squatting or kneeling.
