What we want
The Community-Based Provider/Medical Assistant II, under general supervision, coordinates the planning, development, and implementation of assigned project in the College of Nursing.
What you need to know
Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected hire’s education and experience.
Two Locations: Bryan, TX or Crockett, TX. Please indicate your preferred location at the next step.
Schedule: Hours are varied depending on the need and employee availability. This is a temporary, part-time role.
Other: This position is grant funded. Depending upon the nature of your position, you may be required to receive immunizations (excluding COVID and Flu)
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
High School, GED or equivalent combination of education and experience
3 years related medical experience
Required Licenses and Certifications
Active Texas Driver’s license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with individuals in rural or medically underserved communities
Experience with scheduling patient appointments
Experience with data collection and reports
Enrollment requirements for Texas Medicaid and CHIP or willingness to learn
Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish
Responsibilities
Clinical responsibilities
Measures vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse respiration and obtains height and weight.
Interviews patients for updated medical history and documents information and other activities in the electronic medical records.
Prepares patients for tests, exams, and procedures and provides basic patient education.
Performs basic procedures including, but not limited to: injections, vision screening, auditory exams, ear lavage, EKG, minor wound care, nebulizer treatments, throat swabs, fitting ortho slings, splints, etc.
Assists and/or chaperones nurse practitioner during exams or procedures, transfers specimen, and documents testing and lab results in medical records.
