WHAT YOU’LL DO 

Teach For America Massachusetts (TFA MA) seeks a skilled, strategic, and driven leader to serve as the Senior Managing Director of Program Strategy & Impact in the Massachusetts region. In this role, you will set the overall vision and strategy for our regional program and lead the growth of our impact in Massachusetts through innovative partnerships and programs. The SMD, Program Strategy & Impact will be a key member of the regional leadership team and will serve as a regional ambassador for TFA MA’s programmatic initiatives and key strategic relationships with education leaders, funders, and policymakers. As TFA MA embarks on the development of a new strategic plan, you will contribute to the development of that plan, setting a course for the next five years of programmatic impact in the region aligned with TFA’s 2030 goal of doubling the number of students who are on a path to economic mobility and success in life.

Over the next year, the SMD, Program Strategy & Impact will lead the development and implementation of a re-imagined regional program in partnership with TFA’s central program team. This program will support the growth and impact of corps members from matriculation into the region through early alumnihood. The regional program will include designing and executing corps member learning, leadership, and community-building experiences from summer practicum throughout the 2-year corps experience. The SMD, Program Strategy & Impact will be the regional point of contact for the corps member program to all TFA central team partners, and for our university, state, school, and district partners. 

Last, the SMD, Program Strategy & Impact will lead the design, pilot, and scale of new high-impact programs that advance our region’s 2030 goals to double 8th-grade math outcomes and grow the footprint of TFA across the Commonwealth. The SMD, Program Strategy & Impact will be an entrepreneurial and strategic leader with a deep understanding of the challenges facing schools and the capacity to craft new programs and solutions, leveraging TFA’s core capabilities and competencies. The SMD, Program Strategy & Impact reports to the Executive Director of the Massachusetts region.

WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR 

Regional Program Strategy and Execution (50%)

• Set and manage the vision, direction, and outcomes for our local corps program, using local context, our larger arc of member experience (applicant to alumni), and the organization-wide program model. You will do this in close collaboration with the Managing Directors, Leadership Development (MD, LD), our regional staff, and our central program team, including the Senior Managing Director of Leadership Development (SMD, LD)  

• Design and execute a re-imagined regional corps member program that spans from matriculation, to pre-service (initial summer training), through the two-year corps commitment to the transition to alumni hood. Current major programming events include, but are not limited to: 

• Pre-Service (first-year corps members, before arrival in-region)  

• Practicum (summer training program, 5 sites, ~July)  

• Regional In-Year Learning Summits (~3/year) 

• Content Learning (varied approaches, with content specialists) 

• Alumni Induction (capstone for second-year corps members in May) 

• Serving as the Regional Point of Contact for the corps member program with our centralized program team, school leaders and partners, and regional staff

• Co-managing all Managing Directors of Leadership Development (MD, LDs) in partnership with the Senior Managing Director of Leadership Development (SMD, LD)

• Manage the Manager of Regional Program Operations (M, RPO) to oversee all operations related to our regional programming.
