This is a high‑impact role where you’ll design, build, and operate production‑grade ETL/ELT pipelines across enterprise cloud environments—powering analytics that directly support healthcare innovation.

This is not a prototype‑only role. You’ll own pipelines end‑to‑end, set technical direction when requirements are unclear, and deliver reliable, secure data systems at scale.

What’s In It for You?

  • End‑to‑End Ownership – Design, deploy, and operate enterprise data pipelines from requirements through production
  • Modern Cloud Stack – Work hands‑on with GCP, Azure, BigQuery, SQL Server, and modern orchestration tools
  • Healthcare Impact – Build systems handling PHI and healthcare data that support research, education, and patient outcomes
  • Technical Influence – Set direction, recommend tools, and shape data architecture decisions
  • Mentorship & Leadership – Coach junior engineers and elevate engineering standards across the team
  • Stability with Challenge – Long‑term enterprise environment with complex, meaningful data problems

Your Role & Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate scalable ETL/ELT pipelines across GCP and Azure cloud platforms
  • Model large, complex datasets for analytics using dimensional modeling, normalization, and SCDs
  • Orchestrate workflows using Airflow, Cloud Composer, Azure Data Factory, or similar tools
  • Own pipelines in production—monitoring, troubleshooting, optimizing, and improving performance
  • Ensure secure handling of PHI in alignment with HIPAA requirements, including access controls and auditing
  • Translate business and stakeholder needs into clear technical designs and delivery plans
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines using Git and enterprise deployment standards
  • Identify automation and process improvements that reduce manual effort and increase reliability
  • Explore emerging data technologies and recommend enhancements to platform capabilities
  • Mentor junior data engineers and promote best practices across the team

Skills & Experience You Should Possess

  • 7+ years of data engineering experience delivering production‑grade systems
  • Advanced SQL expertise with hands‑on experience building complex data pipelines
  • Strong development experience using Python or Java
  • Proven experience designing and operating ETL/ELT pipelines at scale
  • Hands‑on experience across GCP, Azure, BigQuery, and SQL Server
  • Solid understanding of data modeling for analytics workloads
  • Experience with workflow orchestration tools (Airflow, ADF, Cloud Composer, Dagster, or Prefect)
  • Comfort working in enterprise environments with governance, standards, and controls

Bonus Points If You Have

  • Direct experience working with healthcare data and PHI
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA compliance and secure data handling
  • Experience supporting both batch and streaming data pipelines
  • Exposure to modern data trends such as semantic layers or LLM‑assisted development
  • History of influencing architecture decisions in ambiguous problem spaces

Education & Certifications You Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related fieldOR
  • Equivalent professional experience (5+ additional years in lieu of a degree)
