Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Under supervision of the Principal Investigator and Laboratory Coordinator, the Student Laboratory Assistant provides technical support to members of the research team on several projects from the lab and to actively collaborate by participating on current Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) Studies. Scientific job duties include maintaining various human primary cancer cell lines, molecular biology analysis and isolation of nucleic acids and assisting on bioinformatics analysis for genomic data generated in the laboratory. Laboratory duties include maintaining research records, maintaining laboratory stocks ordering supplies and consumables for research projects, and oversee lab functions maintaining optimal compressed gas levels and proper equipment operation.

Salary Range: $17.30 - $21.15 Hourly

Required:

• Registered as a UCLA Student
• Excellent English writing skills in grammar, spelling and punctuation for all correspondence
• Effective and good communication skills
• Computer knowledge of basic software i.e. excel, word, power point
• Outstanding organizational abilities and attention to detail
• Ability to work as a part of a team or individually with minimal supervision
• Familiar and comfortable working with human-derived biospecimens (blood and tissue)
