Job Description Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Compliance Analyst to join our Human Resources team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that the organization’s HR practices, policies, and procedures adhere to federal, state, and employment laws and regulations. Collaborate with HR and and other applicable offices to assess risk, track compliance issues, and support initiatives that promote a fair and compliant workplace.

Job Description

Essential Duties:

  • Regulatory Compliance: Monitor and stay up-to-date with changes in employment laws, including but not limited to wage and hour laws,  and labor regulations.

  • Policy and Procedure Review: Conduct regular reviews and audits of HR policies, practices, and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and university work rules.

  • Risk Assessment: Identify areas of potential non-compliance within HR processes, and work with relevant stakeholders to implement corrective measures.

  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records related to HR compliance, prepare and submit compliance reports, and ensure documentation is up to date for audits and regulatory purposes.

  • Employee Training and Awareness: Assist in creating and delivering compliance training programs for HR staff and other employees to increase awareness of regulatory requirements and the institution’s  policies.

  • Internal Audits: Conduct periodic internal audits of HR systems, records, and practices to ensure adherence to policies and regulations.

  • Assist in investigations, provide analysis, and recommend corrective actions as needed.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with HR, General Counsel, and leadership teams to address compliance challenges and provide guidance on best practices. 

  • Other projects/duties as assigned to support HR initiatives

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Legal Studies, or a related field and 3 years of experience in HR compliance, HR administration, or a related field; or Associate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Legal Studies, or a related field and 5 years of experience; or 7 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SHRM-CP, PHR, or other HR-related certifications are a plus.

  • Familiarity with federal and state labor laws (e.g., FMLA, ADA, FLSA, OSHA, EEOC).

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Ability to communicate complex regulations in a clear and concise manner.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
