Verdantas is seeking a Department Leader for our Integrated Design - Power Market Sector. The position will lead and monitor design functions for various projects for Electric Utilities and Generation clients. The ideal candidate will oversee a team focused on facility projects as well as strategy and project delivery for digitization and digital transformation projects with utility-scale substation programs of work, generation station balance of plant projects, nuclear power plant mods/outage support, and renewable collector systems and utility tie-ins. In addition, this individual will be responsible for setting standards, mentoring staff, identifying personnel skill sets and training needs, and conducting performance reviews. They will also develop and maintain relationships with key client contacts as part of the business development strategy for the department.  Remote and hybrid opportunities are available with proven performance in addition to reporting to the office or clients as needed. Relocation is also available.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop project plans, including project scope of work and WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) for complex multi-discipline-based projects
  • Manage project execution, including project scope, schedule, budget, and project resources, including external vendors, consultants, and contractors
  • Effectively track and stabilize projects, implement solutions to obstacles, and ensure client goals are achieved
  • Attend client meetings and communicate concerns and changes with the client to ensure a positive relationship and growth opportunities
  • Prepare preliminary designs and budgetary estimates
  • Lead the development of plans, specifications, studies, estimates, material lists, and other deliverables
  • Ensure team adherence to QA/QC program
  • Perform site visits to document existing conditions, including periodic travel throughout North America
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, isometrics, process & instrumentation diagrams, specifications, and system operating procedures
  • Develop bidding and construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and scopes of work
  • Apply knowledge of engineering principles to research, design, and evaluate products, equipment, systems, and processes to meet project requirements and generate technical reports
  • Confer with the design team to incorporate design information and client standards into the construction documents
  • Prepare technical reports and correspondence for project designs and studies.
