Job Description
Freshworks is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Manager of SEC Reporting to play a key role in driving excellence and innovation within our finance organization. This role will be instrumental in ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of our external reporting while providing technical accounting expertise to support Freshworks' continued growth.
Reporting directly to the Director of SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting, this position partners closely with Legal, Investor Relations, external auditors, and has regular exposure to the Corporate Controller, General Counsel, and CFO.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead SEC Reporting: Own the preparation, review, and filing of the Form 10-K, Form 10-Q, proxy statements, and other SEC filings, including XBRL requirements, driving accuracy, timeliness, and continuous process improvements.
- Quarterly & Annual Deliverables: Oversee the preparation and review of earnings releases, financial tables, management presentations, cash flow statements, and other critical external reporting requirements
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate the collection of data and supporting documentation from teams across the organization to ensure complete, accurate, and timely filings.
- Technical Accounting Expertise: Provide in-depth accounting analysis for complex, unusual, or significant transactions and evaluate the impact of emerging accounting standards and regulations.
- Policy & Implementation: Serve as the subject matter expert on U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements, leading the adoption, documentation, and implementation of new accounting standards.
- Advisory Role: Partner with Treasury, Tax, Legal, and Investor Relations to provide accounting guidance on corporate initiatives, M&A, equity transactions, and executive compensation matters.
- Governance & Controls: Support SOX 404 compliance, internal control documentation, and ongoing enhancements to company accounting policies and procedures.
- Close & Audit Support: Contribute to the month-end close process, review financial statements, and assist with external auditor requests.
- Continuous Improvement: Champion process efficiency, automation, and best practices across reporting and technical accounting functions.
Please note this is a hybrid role with onsite expectations of 3x/ week (Tues - Thurs) from our San Mateo, CA headquarters.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of progressive accounting/ finance experience, including Big 4 public accounting and SEC reporting experience at a publicly traded company
- Deep technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and financial statement preparation
- Proven track record of leading large, complex reporting processes under tight deadlines
- Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify technical issues for a broad range of stakeholders
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with a forward-looking approach
- Collaborative team player with the ability to influence and build relationships across functions
- Highly organized with exceptional project management skills in fast-paced, dynamic environments
- Experience with SOX 404, internal controls, Workiva, XBRL, and advanced Excel proficiency
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting,
